My name is Larry Miller Doke.
I was born and raised in
Siskiyou
County
. My father was a timber faller for the Long Bell Lumber Co. and lived in the
lumber camp of Tennant. I was born
in Weed, which was the nearest hospital. When I was about two years old we moved
to
Mt.
Shasta
, where I grew up, and attended school from K through 12th grade.
A couple of years after graduating, I married my wife Elaine. We have two sons,
a daughter, six granddaughters, two grandsons, and two great-grandsons, so far.
I have spent my whole life in ranching.
My Shasta linage comes from my mother’s side of the family.
The names go back through Miller,
Hoover
, Picard, to Chief Tato.
The first contact with the Shasta organization was in 1983. I have served
as council member, treasurer, and now as chairman of the Shasta Indian Nation.
There is a vision that I have for the Shasta people, and that is to see us in
our homeland, as a recognized sovereign nation.
Together with, cultural and economic programs to bring us together as a
strong, and united nation.

Chairman of the Shasta Indian Nation
